Sweet Sunday Scripture – The Father you’ve always wanted

With deep gratitude I say this: I had one of the best fathers in the world. He died 12 ½ years ago and we miss him terribly… Especially on days like today.

Because my dad was such a wise, unselfish, patient, and loving father, it has been easy for me to believe that God the Father is wise, unselfish, patient, and loving.

But I realize that many didn’t have a dad like mine, which makes intimacy with and trust in our Heavenly Father a little more difficult to accept.

Whether we had the best or the worst earthly dad, or whether our dads are present or not, we all have a Father we can celebrate today. Our Heavenly Daddy. He loves us, provides for us, walks with us, laughs and cries with us, rejoices over us, carries our burdens for us, and He even laid down His life for ours.

He keeps His promises, and He will NEVER leave us… no matter what! He is the Father to the fatherless. He is the Daddy we all dream of having.

As great as our earthly dads are, they are still human. None of them are perfect. But God the Father is. And friends, we need to release God from being bound in our minds and hearts by the faults and failures of our earthly dads.

No matter what you are doing on this Father’s Day, will you join me in celebrating and honoring our Heavenly Daddy? He is worthy of our praise, and He loves you so very much!

You are the helper of the fatherless. Psalm 10:14 (NIV)

Even if my father and mother abandon me,the Lord will hold me close. Psalm 27:10 (NLT)

Father of orphans, champion of widows, is God in his holy house. Psalm 68:5 (Msg)

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)

You, LORD, are our Father. We are nothing but clay, but you are the potter who molded us. Isaiah 64:8 (CEV)

Happy Father’s Day, Heavenly Abba. I love you and am so thankful that you are my Savior and my Daddy.

Happy Father’s Day to my dad, James’ dad, and to both of my grandfathers,

all of whom are in the arms of their Heavenly Father celebrating Father’s Day in The Father’s Glory! I love and miss each of you~ and know that one of these days, in a twinkling of an eye, we’ll be together again.

And, Happy Father’s Day to my precious husband, James – who is an amazing father to our children, just like my dad was to us. We love you so much, James, and are so proud to be yours!

Blessings to each of you on this special day…

Jennifer

  4. Jennifer, how wise to suggest we celebrate our Heavenly Father. I agree; so many women didn't have the best earthly fathers which can cause issues of trust and intimacy problems. I'm so glad to read that you had a wonderful father and your husband is a wonderful father to your children. What a blessing!

Thank you for your kind comments today on Heart Choices. As you now know, I have a father who always shared his love with me and it makes such a difference. It's sad to see how very rare that is today.
