The BEST slaw Eveh’ – Great for this weekend’s BBQ!

We’re making this today and I thought I’d share the love… This is honestly the best slaw I’ve ever eaten.  It’s been a family favorite for years.  (And if it’s something I make, we all know it must be easy!)  We call it “Mrs. Emily’s Slaw”.  It makes tons and keeps for a long time.  It’s a perfect side dish for any cookout and delicious piled beside or on top of a huge mound of BBQ.  Yumm… my mouth is watering already. πŸ™‚

Mrs. Emily’s Slaw
Chop or shred:
  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 onion
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 carrot
Cover with 1 cup of sugar.

Heat until boiling:
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp celery seed
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 3/4 cup “salad oil” (I use canola)
Pour vinegar solution over chopped vegetables, and mix well.  Will keep for 2-3 weeks in refrigerator.  (Plan to make ahead.  It gets better the longer it sits.)
