Guess What? We are two weeks closer to Thanksgiving & Christmas since the last “Sanity Savers” post! Here are seven more tips to make your Holidays more “Fun and Frazzle Free”.
1. Start buying baking products now. If you bake cookies or make any kind of goodie, start stockpiling. (I am a pretzel dipper, so every time I go to the grocery store I buy one pack of white chocolate almond bark.) By the time you are ready to bake, you will have all the supplies you need and the money pinch won’t hurt so much.
2. Clear out and designate the top of a closet or a special area of your house for gift storage. You may think you will remember where you put things – but in the rush of the holidays, if all gifts are not together, you are bound to lose a few. Then, spend just one hour each week to wrap and label those gifts.
3. Make a list of gifts already purchased. (And, keep it in your purse). This will help stop you from needless spending – no double purchases. STICK TO THE LIST!
4. Clean out! Before Christmas, purge your home of any unused clothes, toys, etc. and donate them to those in need, or to a charity organization.
5. Have a family meeting and pray about whom you will “bless” this Christmas. In our home it has become a tradition to find a family in need and bless them monetarily. It has taught all of us to think more about others and less about ourselves. You know… sometimes we all suffer from “I” problems like… “I want” – “I need” – “I really have to have that”
6. Check your closet now – do you have a special party or occasion where you’ll need something snazzy to wear? Shop now! The racks of holiday clothes are still full. Don’t be out the night before an event shopping in frenzy and paying full price!
7. Lastly, Here’s your bargain tip of the week: Are you going to enjoy a spiral honey glazed ham this season? If you have an “Aldi” in your town, go buy your ham today. At $1.49/lb, it is a great deal. And, it’s every bit as delicious as the ones I have had from the “big name” ham stores. Trust me on this one!!!!
So there you have it – seven more “Sanity Savers for the Season”! One for each day of the week! 🙂
Happy Friday!!! & TTFN
